Through the enormous generosity of our members, the VBRA Knox branch & Knox Basketball Pink round broke all records this year, raising a total of $7,131 for breast cancer research.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting Australian women. In 2018, it is estimated that 18,087 women and 148 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer. An average of 50 people every day.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is the only national body that funds life-changing breast cancer research with money raised entirely by the Australian public.

In 2014 the Knox Basketball referee branch, VBRA Knox, introduced Pink Round to raise funds to donate to NBCF.

The Knox Basketball Stadium and the State Basketball Centre are decorated each year with a touch of pink over the Pink Round weekend, including our referees wearing a special pink round uniform. Pink socks are purchased by players and coaches and worn during games and BBQs and raffles are running throughout the weekend with all festivities raising funds for NBCF.

Pink Round was formally introduced in 2014 however VBRA Knox have been raising money for breast cancer research since 2012, raising a total of almost $23,000. These funds helping NBCF get closer to their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030.

Knox Basketball strongly supports this fantastic VBRA Knox initiative and together we strive to further strengthen the fundraising achievements.
