State Championship Men
The Knox Raiders State Champ Men had a strong win against the Werribee Devils, winning 98-66. This game was a great opportunity to spread court time and show the depth of the team with all 10 players contributing to the scoreboard. Taylor Dyson (17pts, 2rbds, 3asts) was the leading scorer for the Raiders and Ryan Oirbans (10pts, 13rbds, 10blks) once again dominated the boards. The Raiders shot at a very strong 49% from the field, 34% from the 3-point line and 91% from the free throw line. The Raiders came up against the Hawthorn Magic on the Sunday, going down 84-77. The Raiders were off to a great start winning the first quarter 27-16 however the Magic were not going down easy and came back to win the 2ndquarter 22-7. Michael Wearne (17pts, 3stls, 1ast) was the top scorer for the Raiders.
This leaves the State Champ Men sitting 7thon the ladder with 11 wins and 9 losses for the season.
State Championship Women
The Knox Raiders State Champ Women defeated the Hume City Broncos on the weekend 81-62. Bec Ott (15pts, 3rbds, 4asts) was strong for the Raiders aswell as Taylor Mathers (15pts, 7rbds, 2asts) who shot at 100% from the field and the free throw line. Once again showing the team depth the Raiders had an impressive five players in double figures for the game. Nicole Zammit (16pts, 8rbds, 7asts) was the leading scorer for the Broncos with Louisa Murphy (11pts, 10rbds) leading in rebounds for the game. The Raiders high intensity defence caused the Broncos to have a high 23 turnovers, with the Raiders efficiently scoring 24 points from those turnovers. Which no doubt was a big contributor to the Knox Raiders win.
The State Champ Women remain on top of the ladder with 14 wins and 2 losses for the season.
Victorian Youth Championship Men
The Knox Raiders Youth Champ Men played their last two games for the season on the weekend. First up was a strong win against the Altona Gators 97-55. The Raiders came out with a bang and dominated every quarter of the game. Joshua Woodford (30pts, 2rbds, 2asts) and Malik Meunier (19pts, 12rbds, 4stls) were outstanding performers for the Raiders. The Raiders had an impressive 58 rebounds compared to the Gators 44, allowing the Raiders to have more control of the ball and increase scoring opportunities. The Raiders had a bit of a slow start the next day against the tough Nunawading Spectres eventually going down 95-50. Liam Hanafin (24pts, 2rbds, 3stls) and Kallum Topp (10pts, 4rbds, 1ast) played well for the Raiders.
The Youth Champ Men finished 7thon the Terrill pool ladder, with 10 wins and 12 losses for the season.
Victorian Youth Championship Women
The Knox Raiders Youth Champ Women had a big weekend where they needed to win 2/2 games to make it into the final series. The women were very successful coming out with two huge wins. First up was against the Altona Gators who the Raiders had previously lost to in the season, however this time Knox came out with a strong 80-49 win. Eliana Bravington (23pts, 19rbds, 4blks) and Leah Santomaggio (21pts, 7rbds, 3asts) proved to be unstoppable for the Raiders. The Raiders shot at a very high 50% from the 3-point line and had an impressive 63 rebounds as a team allowing the Raiders to be much more in control of the game. The Raiders backed it up again the next day with an outstanding 108-69 win over the Waverley Falcons. Eliana Bravington (21pts, 19rbds, 2asts) and Leah Santomaggio (23pts, 11rbds, 2stls) were both once again top performers for the Raiders with both girls recording double-doubles for the weekend.
This pushes the Raiders up to finish 2ndon the Terrill pool ladder, with 15 wins and 7 losses for the season, giving the Raiders home court advantage for the final series.
