State Championship Men

The Knox Raiders State Champ Men had a big 88-73 win over the Blackburn Vikings on the weekend. The men needed to win this came for a chance to still be in the running for finals, however due to results of other games sadly the men just missed out on a place in finals. It was a close first quarter with the Vikings finishing 1 point ahead, however the Raiders came back and chipped away at every quarter eventually breaking a clear lead. Chris Kaba (22pts, 15rbds, 2asts) and Dylan Hare (19pts, 2rbds, 6asts) were the leading scorers for the Raiders. Ryan Oirbans was also strong for the Raiders with 8 points and 13 rebounds.

The State Champ Men just missed out on finals and unfortunately that is the end of their season for this year.

 

State Championship Women

The Knox Raiders State Champ Women defeated the Bulleen Boomers 101-55 in the last regular season game before finals. Bec Ott (21pts, 3rbds, 2stls) and Taylor Mathers (17pts, 5rbds, 1ast) were the top scorers for the Raiders, however the whole team strongly contributed at both ends of the floor. The Raiders showed their defensive intensity with 19 steals, also causing the Boomers to have a high 32 turnovers.

The State Champ Women finished their regular season on a high note, putting them in good stead for the finals. The women finished clear on top of the ladder and have secured a week off and double chance with home court advantage for the final series.

 

Victorian Youth Championship Women

The Knox Raiders Youth Champ Women had a very important 78-71 win over the Nunawading Spectres in their Semi Final on the weekend. The Raiders had previously lost the Spectres twice in the regular season games, showing how much the Raiders have improved. Eliana Bravington recorded another double-double for the Raiders with 28 points, 16 rebounds and 2 steals. Emily Fisher (18pts, 5rbds, 2asts) also had a great game shooting at and impressive 66% from the 3-point line.

The Youth Champ Women will now face off the Sandringham Sabres in a best of three Grand final series. The first game is Saturday the 4thof August 7pm at the State Basketball Centre.
