D-LEAGUE FINALS KICK OFF SATURDAY
Wednesday, August 01, 2012
The Knox Under Armour Raiders D-League teams' finals campaigns begin Saturday night, with the D-League Raiders women taking on Dandenong on Saturday 4th August at 6pm.
The women's team finished third on the ladder, but will be undermanned against the Dandenong Rangers, with the clash in the schedule with our SEABL women's side who will be playing against Geelong at the State Basketball Centre at the same time, therefore making Jess May, Rachael Quirk and Yvette Thompson unavailable for the final.
The D-League men won the right to host a home final, finishing the season on top of the ladder after defeating Kilsyth last week to claim top spot.
They will take on Sandringham in the semi-final at the State Basketball Centre on Sunday at 1pm on Court 4.
The D-League finals are an elimination format, with a win for the men meaning a home final the following week against the winner of Kilsyth and Dandenong.
As for the women, if they are victorious on Saturday they are an outside chance of hosting a home final, reliant on Bendigo upsetting Nunawading on Sunday in the other semi-final.
