State Championship Men
The Knox Raiders State Champ men came up against the Ringwood Hawks in a tough game this week, with the Raiders losing 86-95. The Hawks came out firing with a 28-15 quarter which set the Raiders off to a tough start. The Raiders came back in a very close 2ndquarter continuing to fight and finishing the game off strong winning the final quarter 30-20 however was too late to get them over the line. Chris Kaba (17pts, 5rbds, 1ast) and Ryan Oirbans (9pts, 14rbds, 2asts) were both strong contributors for the Raiders, with Ryan continually showing his strong rebounding abilities.
The State Champ Men are sitting 5thon the ladder with 10 wins and 7 losses for the season.
State Championship Women
The Knox Raiders State Champ Women had a good win against the Ringwood Hawks 76-51. The Raiders ability to keep the opposition to 51 points shows their strong defensive abilities and intensity across the team. Georgia Stirton (26pts, 3rbds, 4stls) had an outstanding game for the Raiders shooting at a very high 81% from the field, 85% from the 3-point line and 100% from the free throw line. Bec Ott (17pts, 3rbds, 7asts) and Taylor Mathers (17pts, 6rbds) were also strong performers for the Raiders this week.
The State Champ Women remain on top of the ladder with 12 wins and 2 losses for the season.
Victorian Youth Championship Men
The Youth Champ Men went down 76-60 to the Ringwood Hawks this week. Ringwood dominated the boards with 73 total rebounds compare to the Raiders 49, no doubt contributing the Hawks win allowing them to create more scoring opportunities. Ethan Woodward (14pts, 8rbds, 1ast) was strong for the Raiders this week. Despite the loss, the Raiders continued to show their strong defensive intensity causing the Hawks to have a high 23 turnovers as a team.
The VYCM now sit 7thon the Terrill pool ladder with 9 wins and 11 losses for the season.
Victorian Youth Championship Women
The Youth Champ Women had a big game this week also against the Ringwood Hawks with the Raiders losing 72-80. The Raiders had a strong start winning the 1stand 2ndquarter, being up by 14pts at half time. However, the Hawks were not going down without a fight coming back and dominating the 3rdquarter almost doubling their score from the first half and finishing the 3rdquarter 2 points up from the Raiders. Eliana Bravington (24pts, 19rbds, 3blks) and Leah Santomaggio (20pts, 7rbds, 3asts) were the top scorers for the Raiders, with Eliana continuing to show her presence on the court both on the defensive and offensive ends.
