State Championship Men:
The Knox Raiders State Championship Men have secured a valuable road win on the weekend at Keilor, defeating the Thunder 96-84.
After a close first period the Raiders dominated in the second outscoring the Thunder 33-19 to take a dominant 18 point lead into the main break. Raiders import Chris Kaba was strong with 24 points and 4 boards and he had plenty of support with Taylor Dyson scoring 18 and Dylan Hare 17. For the home side Jordan Coleman led the way with 16 points and 8 boards.
The win sees Knox having won 4 of their past 5 games and are sitting in 5th place with 4 wins and 3 losses. The Thunder has now dropped 5 in a row and sit in 11thposition with 2 wins and 5 losses.
State Championship Women:
The Knox Raiders State Championship Women have won their 5th consecutive game, defeating Bulleen Boomers on the road with a comfortable 96-76 win. The win sees the Raiders maintain top spot on the ladder with an impressive 7-1 record.
All four periods were closely contested but in what was a pleasing effort from Knox, they continued to push the lead out winning all four quarters of basketball. The Raiders defensive pressure really had the Boomers on the backfoot with Knox scoring 27 points off turnovers. The Boomers had a high amount of turnovers committing 22 compared to Knox who did a far better job with the ball and only turning it over 12 teams across the game. Leah Santomaggio had an outstanding game for Knox nailing 7 triples on the way to a game high 23 points. Kathleen Macleod led the scoring for Bulleen with 18 points.
