State Championship Women Semi Final – Knox Raiders vs. Southern Peninsula Sharks

Previous Meetings this season:

Southern Peninsula sharks 55 def. by Knox Raiders 64

Knox Raiders 73 def. by Southern Peninsula Sharks 93

The Knox Raiders State Champ Women came up against the Southern Peninsula Sharks on the weekend to fight for the final spot in the Grandfinal Series. The Raiders had the lead the entire game with the Sharks on the back pedal until the last few minutes where the Sharks hit a vital 3-pointer in the dying moments of the game to give them a 60-59 win over the Raiders. Georgia Stirton was on fire for the Raiders shooting at 62% from the field, 66% from the 3-point line and 100% from the free throw line. Georgia finished with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists. Despite the Sharks heavily scouting and doing all that they could to stop Bec Ott from scoring she still ended up with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Lucy Dawson also had a strong performance for the Raiders this week with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The Sharks put up a total of 63 shots for the game compared to the Raiders 48, and despite the Raiders shooting at a higher percentage, the extra shots put up by the Sharks gave them more scoring opportunities and helped keep them in the game. The Southern Peninsula Sharks will now go through to the Grand Final against Sunbury and sadly it is the end of the season for our Knox Raiders State Champ Women.
