Previous meetings this season –

Round 10: Sandringham Sabres 73 defeated Knox Raiders 61
The Knox Raiders Youth Champ Women defeated the Sandringham Sabres 90-80 in Game 1 of the Grand Final series. It was close almost the entire game with the Raiders having the lead and control of the game which left Sabres on the back pedal for most of the game. The Sabres managed to close the gap in the dying minutes of the game to lead to a 70 all tie game at the end of the 4thquarter which led the game into overtime. With both teams on 5 fouls the Raiders dominated overtime with 20 points compared to the Sabres 10. Maighan Hedge (26pts, 4rbds, 5asts), Eliana Bravington (24pts, 11rbds, 2asts) and Emily Fisher (18pts, 4rbds, 7asts) were all outstanding performers for the Raiders and proved to be unstoppable for the Sabres. The Raiders shot at a strong 45% from the field and 33% from the 3-point line compared to the Sabres 39% from the field and 15% from the 3-point line, which meant the Raiders were utilising and making use of each of their ball possessions.
The Knox Raiders VYCW will now head to Sandringham’s home court this Saturday night 7pm at Nunn Media Basketball Centre for Game 2 of the final series – if they win one more game they win the whole series!
