Knox Basketball are excited to announce the re-appointment of Darryl McDonald as the Head Coach of the Knox Raiders Senior Men’s team for the 2019 season.

Darryl “Dmac” McDonald is a retired American-Australian professional basketball player who last played for the Melbourne Tigers in Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL). Darryl attended Texas A&M University and came out to Australia in 1994 (age 29) at the insistence of NBA San Antonio Spurs Assistance Coach and Australian National mens team Head Coach Brett Brown. He has played with NBL teams the North Melbourne Giants, Victoria Titans, Victoria Giants and Melbourne Tigers.

McDonald has played in over 485 NBL games, and was a starting member of the teams which won the 1994, 2006, and 2008 NBL Championships, and has twice been named the NBL All-Star Game MVP. In 2009 he was Assistant Coach for the Melbourne Tigers and in 2010 took over as the Head Coach. He also is currently the 1sts Head Basketball Coach at Wesley College, Melbourne.

Darryl, has held the position as the Head Coach of the Knox Raiders State Championship Men’s team since 2016, taking out the Big V Coach of the Year award for 2017.
