Knox Basketball is excited to announce the appointment of Emily Schill as the Head Coach of the Knox Raiders Youth Women’s team for the 2019 season.

Emily grew up in the Yarra ranges and played juniors with Knox Raiders debuting in the senior program at just 15 years old. Attending Box Hill Secondary College, Emily was a member of the 2009 Australian National High School Championship squad, winning in both 2009 and again in 2011.

Emily then signed with San Jose State University (Div 1) located in California which saw her break the all freshmen scoring record with a season high of 36 points and 18 rebounds against Utah state. Tragedy then struck with a career ending knee injury resulting in a stem cell transplant ending her years as a basketball player. She completed her four years at San Jose with the coaches on the sidelines assisting the coaching staff.

Most recently, Emily joined Robbie Baldwin and his coaching staff with the Senior Raiders State Championship Women for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

Emily says “I am overwhelmed with excitement to coach the Youth League team especially being a Knox girl myself. I have big plans for this season, wanting to evolve Knox as a program as well scaffold and develop the upcoming talent coming through the junior girls program. As a coach I aim to help develop these young women individually so that they can become the best basketball version of themselves which will ultimately result in a successful team and program.”

Try outs for Knox Junior Raiders U21 teams and the Senior Raiders Youth teams will take place on Tuesday 13th November at Fairhills High School.
