First of all, from everyone at Knox Basketball, we hope your families are staying healthy and safe in these challenging times. Remember to check in on your team mates, your family and your friends. At the bottom of this email, we have provided contact details of a number of services for anyone who needs some help.
From 6pm on Sunday 2 August, Stage 4 Restrictions were put in place across Metropolitan Melbourne for the following six weeks. Please visit the DHHS website for further information. These restrictions will be in place until at least Sunday 13 September.
Senior and Junior Domestic Timelines
From an on court point of view, Knox Basketball is prepared to resume our Senior and Junior Domestic Competitions as soon as the green light is given by the Victorian Government and Basketball Victoria.
We have updated our options to reflect possible new dates. You can find them below.

For example, if you registered through PlayHQ in June 2020, but play your first game on October 3 2020, your registration will last until October 2 2021.

Following stage three restrictions announced by the Victorian Government, Knox Basketball has had to amend their plans moving forward.
We appreciate all of our members’ patience in this time. Our staff are working hard in the background, and as soon as more information comes to light, we will let you know.
Junior and Senior Domestic Competitions
As you are no doubt aware, the Victorian Premier’s announcement yesterday regarding the 6 week lockdown is going to have a big impact on our Domestic Competitions. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do but adhere to the new restrictions and await further communications.
Knox Basketball has had a plan in place should any further lockdowns have been implemented to ensure the continued viability of our competition. Please find the attached document below to show our plan moving forward during this time. Once we have been given the green light again, we are ready to commence ASAP.
Whilst yesterdays announcement is not what we were hoping for, we are prepared for the minute we can resume and get all our participants back on the court.
Please see the below from Basketball Victoria:
With the re-introduction of Stage 3 Restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne, we unfortunately have no alternative but to cancel the 2019/2020 VJBL Championship Season. Further details for associations and the 2020/2021 season plan will follow in the near future.
With the re-introduction of Stage 3 Restrictions for Metropolitan Melbourne, we unfortunately have no alternative but to cancel the 2020 Big V Season. Further details for associations and the 2021 season plan will follow in the near future.
In the lead up to VJBL officially cancelling its season, Knox Basketball in anticipation had been planning ahead in the background and looking at options of our own mini Eastern Region Representative Competition. This will enable our Junior Raiders players the opportunity to play out the season with some tough competitive opposition against other VJBL clubs such as Kilsyth, Dandenong, Nunawading, Frankston, Casey and others, whilst making sure we are not travelling too far out of our area.
Knox Basketball has sent out communications to nine VJBL associations and their CEO’s seeking their interest in this Eastern Region Competition. We are in the very early stages of planning, and once we have more details to provide you, we will do so immediately.
There is also the slight chance that VJBL themselves may offer regions like us a similar region conference competition, so either way, our Junior Raiders will be playing out the season in some format either with VJBL or in the new conference we set up ourselves.
