A move to live in the heart of Melbourne has prompted Sue McMillan to step down as Chairperson of Knox Basketball.
After taking over as Chairperson almost 3 years ago, Sue has been instrumental in Knox Basketball’s fight back following some serious financial issues.  Sue’s commitment to Knox Basketball has been exemplary in recent years and Sue can be well proud to finish her tenure which sees Knox Basketball in a much stronger administration and financial position.  Knox Basketball CEO Stephen Walter says. ‘Sue is a committed community person and has been outstanding support for me and the basketball community in what has been a significantly challenging time.  Sue’s leadership will be greatly missed.  We wish Sue well with her move to the  city, however we are sure she will miss the gum trees and kookaburras and will return regularly to capture a basketball game or two…”
Sue McMillan says… ‘my husband and I have decided to become “city dwellers” since becoming empty nesters earlier this year. Having lived in Ferntree Gully for 30 years and immersed in my local community throughout our children’s school years and then in my time on Knox Council, it has not been an easy decision to make. I am sure Greg and I will settle well in to city living and enjoy this new chapter in our lives.

I came on to the Knox Basketball Board with a clear intention of re-establishing the relationships and trust with our stakeholders, that had been damaged during the proceeding years and getting the association back on a stable and sustainable financial footing. Together with Stephen Walter and my fellow board members, we have more than achieved those objectives. I thank you all for your unwavering support for myself and the board throughout that time. I am very proud of where we sit now within the broader basketball community.

It’s time to hand on the reins to those who have the energy, passion and commitment to continue the great progress that we have made over the last few years. Michelle Murray will fit seamlessly into the role as Chair, so please support her as she continues to work with Stephen and the board to navigate through the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for KBI.

I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas with your family and friends and a great 2018…’
Vice Chairperson Michelle Murray has stepped into Sue’s shoes until the 2018 AGM.  Michelle has significant senior corporate and community experience and will serve the position well for the interim period.

Knox Basketball wishes everyone a great Christmas  and a safe and  prosperous new year,
