Matt Shanahan is stepping down from his development role at Knox Basketball, a role he has held for 5 years.

Matt is pursuing a new basketball venture which requires him to devote significantly more time than his current Knox Basketball role can allow.  On behalf of Knox Basketball, we thank Matt for his commitment to the betterment of Knox Basketball over the last 5 years and wish him every success with this exciting opportunity.

Matt states “…..during my five years as Basketball Development Manager with KBI I have seen many changes made, countless challenges have been overcome and processes have been refined. I am extremely proud of what the club has been able to achieve and the culture I have helped create. Domestic team numbers continue to grow, our after school and school holiday programs have never been bigger and our representative Senior and Junior teams continue to be a force in the Victorian basketball landscape.

I would like to thank the coaches who have volunteered their time over the years who do it for the love of the sport and to see our kids enjoy this great game. I look forward to continuing to see the Knox domestic and representative players continue to go from strength-to-strength, and I would like to thank the parents and families who give up their time to ensure their children have the opportunities to participate and play. Finally, I would like to thank the Knox staff, board members and volunteers who supported me during my time with KBI….”

Knox Basketball CEO Stephen Walter says “… Matt has developed a strong junior basketball ethos at Knox which is a credit to his basketball knowledge and method.  Although stepping down from his Development role now, Matt will continue to coach the Senior Champ Women’s team and Under 12’s for the remainder of the season…. Matt is a well credentialled coach and we all look forward to seeing the SCW maintain its great momentum heading to finals… We thank Matt for his contribution to Knox Basketball and wish him well for the future”.

Knox Basketball Chair Grant Harrison says “… Matt has worked tirelessly over the past 5 years for the benefit of Knox Basketball, delivering elite level coaching to all our young players and coaches. We look forward to following Matt’s future progress and wish him all the best in his new venture…..”.
