NBL1 WOMEN – Knox Raiders v. Geelong Supercats
The Geelong Supercats held on to a tight five-point victory against the Knox Raiders in overtime.
The Supercats started off strong, demonstrating composure and immense pressure at both ends of the court. Their quick transitions allowed them to take a two-point lead (16-14) at the first break.
Their pressure continued into the second term, reaching their largest lead of 12 points, with Sara Blicavs ending the half with 10 points.
The Supercats began to drop off in the fourth quarter allowing Knox to take a one-point lead with 1.5 minutes remaining. However, a critical turnover by the Raiders with less than a minute left saw the Supercats regain a two-point lead with 48 seconds on the clock.
A foul called in the dying seconds of the game saw Lauren Scherf take to the line, where she made both free-throws sending the game into overtime.
The Raiders put up a fight in the final minutes however the Supercats charged home, outscoring Knox 14-9 to record the win.
NBL1 MEN – Knox Raiders v. Geelong Supercats
The Geelong Supercats secured a 16-point victory over the Knox Raiders at Geelong Arena.
The Supercats came out firing in the first quarter with a massive 30-17 run giving them a 13-point lead heading into the second term.
However, their momentum quickly faded reducing them to only nine points before the half, while the Raiders came back with 22 points on the board to tie the game at 39 apiece heading into the third.
Despite gaining a two-point lead early in the third, the Raiders were unable to maintain the lead against the surging Supercats who managed to outscore Knox 49-33 in the second half.
Lewis Thomas top scored with 22 points for Geelong shooting at 50 per cent from the field alongside teammate Demarcus Gatlin who finished with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists.
