Young big Abe Nyok and versatile forward Simon Grant are returning to suit up in the navy and gold once again this year.
Abe grew throughout 2019, getting more confident every time he hit the floor. Head Coach Dom Linossier believes in Nyok as a long-term piece for Knox.
“Abe is a real key part of our future planning. He’s grown significantly under DMac and will be ready for further opportunities this year,” said Linossier. “I’m really looking forward to him bringing enthusiasm and energy while competing on every possession.”
“His scoring ability will continue to grow with experience.”
Simon Grant returned to Knox for the inaugural NBL1 season and was a huge part of the team. Winning our Defensive Player of the Year, he’ll once again play a key role in 2020.
“Simon is such a key cog of our senior men’s program,” Dom continued. “He’s a natural leader and will bring some veteran experience to our crew. Simon does a little of everything – he can defend the Pick & Roll, he can score from the wing, he can defend posts much larger. Most importantly, Simon is a team-first guy dedicated to team success – this selflessness is key to his identity.”
In addition to adding two talented individuals to the line-up, these signings have an added bonus of showcasing the pathway Knox Basketball provides.
“How exciting that another series of Knox Junior Raiders will be hitting the floor with the NBL1 South Men in Season 2020,” Dom explained. “Simon & Abe are two more examples of what our NBL1 focus is – an opportunity for Knox players to be the best players they can be.”
