The atmosphere was lively and vibrant last night as the Knox Basketball community gathered to commemorate the resounding success of our recent international basketball tour to China. The evening served as a fitting tribute to an unforgettable journey through Shanghai, Nanjing, and the greater Jiangsu area, celebrating not only the on-court achievements but the profound cultural exchanges that took place.

Bridging Cultures Through Basketball
The recent tour offered our athletes a unique and challenging environment, pitting them against some of the region’s premier Chinese Basketball Academies, Institutes, and Schools. Beyond the intense competition on the hardwood, the tour provided a rich tapestry of cultural experiences, broadening the horizons of everyone involved.

During the celebration, we heard directly from several of the players who took the stage to share their personal highlights. The consensus among the athletes was clear and resounding: the trip was nothing short of a "life-changing experience," fostering personal growth just as much as athletic development.

Distinguished Guests and Global Partnerships
The commemorative event was hosted by Knox Basketball’s Coach Education Manager, Gerard Hillier, who guided the evening's proceedings and introduced a lineup of highly esteemed guest speakers. We were honoured to welcome:
- Xinwen Fang – Consul-General, Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Melbourne
- David Thomas – Chairman, Knox Basketball Incorporated
- Alan Yang JP – President, Australian Chinese Basketball Association
- Min Zhang – Vice President, Australia Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce
- Jinsheng Wan – Secretary General, Australia Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce
- Raymond Gu – Advisor, Australian Chinese Basketball Association
Their presence underscored the significance of the tour and the power of sport to bridge international communities.

A Foundation for the Future
Perhaps the most exciting takeaway from "A Night To Celebrate" is what lies ahead. This successful tour has significantly strengthened the relationships between Knox Basketball, the Australian Chinese Basketball Association, Shanghai, and the Jiangsu Basketball Association.
The shared experiences and mutual respect cultivated during our time in China have firmly laid the foundations for future international tours, collaborative projects, and ongoing development opportunities. Last night was a celebration of a milestone achieved, but more importantly, it marked the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Knox Basketball on the global stage.
